How to ski in Damüls
The open, gentle sections closest to the village at 1 428 metres are where beginners and families spend their time in Damüls. From the centre it is easy to get out onto the blue runs that sit lowest in the system, and this is also where most of the lifts serving the nursery slopes start from.
The higher you climb towards the top height of the system at 2 050 metres, the more demanding the terrain becomes. The red runs make up 30 per cent of the piste length and the black runs 10 per cent, and it is in these upper parts of the ski area that the steeper flanks are found.
Damüls and Mellau are linked into a single shared system with a total of 109 kilometres of piste and 29 lifts, which means you can travel between the two sections without having to ski the same way back. With that much ground to cover, you can put together a full day's circuit taking in both sides of the system.
A useful figure to keep in mind is the vertical drop of 622 metres between the village and the top, which gives you a sense of just how long the turns are on the way down towards Damüls compared with the shorter stretches up in the steeper terrain.
