1. Perfect for beginners and families With 110 km of blue pistes out of a total of 225 km, the choice of relaxed skiing is unusually large. That makes Lenzerheide a good pick for families who want plenty of room without crowds on the easier slopes.
2. Use the whole valley The ski system opens up on both sides from the valley floor and is linked with Arosa. Plan your day so you get to explore both directions, it gives great variety without long transfers between sectors.
3. Head for altitude in mild weather The top sits at 2,865 metres, considerably higher than the village at 1,473 metres. If it turns mild in the valley, the snow is likely to hold up better in the upper parts of the area.
4. Travel outside the holiday weeks As at most alpine resorts, accommodation with lift pass included is noticeably cheaper if you avoid February half-term and Easter. With 43 lifts spread across a large area, you also avoid long queues in the quieter weeks.

Snow reliability in Lenzerheide

Lenzerheide's village sits at 1,473 metres, while the ski area climbs all the way to 2,865 metres, giving a wide vertical spread between the mild valley floor and considerably colder terrain higher up. That vertical range is a key reason why the area is regarded as snow-sure for much of the season.

Winter temperatures confirm the picture: in January the night-time temperature sits around -10 degrees and the daytime temperature around 0 degrees, while December and February are slightly milder with nights between -8 and -6 degrees. Not until April does the daytime temperature climb to around 8 degrees, which makes the peak season up to then a reliable choice if you want to be sure of good conditions.

Best time to travel to Lenzerheide

January offers the coldest and most stable snow conditions, with night-time temperatures down to minus ten degrees. February and March bring milder daytime temperatures, while the altitude of the upper sections keeps the snow quality high.

Will there be lift queues in Lenzerheide?

The lift system in Lenzerheide carries 64,736 people an hour across 43 lifts. 25 of the 43 lifts are gondolas or high-speed chairlifts and 16 are drag lifts, which take longer to get through when it is busy. The fastest lifts carry up to 2,800 people an hour, for example Stätzerhorn. Per kilometre of piste there is less lift capacity than at an average resort on this site, so a busy week is felt more clearly here. The queue you actually notice is almost always down in the valley between eight and half past nine. If you are on the lift before nine you avoid it.

When is Lenzerheide busiest?

How busy the slopes get is not decided by the English half term but by when the local families and the neighbouring countries are on holiday. These are the weeks that fill Lenzerheide in the 2026/2027 season.

• Switzerland: The Swiss Sportferien vary from canton to canton, and sometimes between municipalities in the same canton. They are spread from late January to early March, which makes the pressure more even than in the neighbouring countries.
• Germany: Germans are the largest foreign group in the Alps and their winter holidays are spread across early February.
