What does it mean for the ski trip?
The home market does not decide how busy the Alps get. What fills the slopes is the Austrian semester holidays, rolling state by state through the first three weeks of February, and the German winter holidays at the start of February.
If your week falls after those, you are in luck: the pistes are quieter and prices follow demand from the big markets rather than from home. It is worth comparing weeks before you decide.
If your week falls late in the season, altitude matters more than anything else. A resort skiing well above 2,000 metres holds its snow when lower villages start to struggle.
Late in the season? Go high
Zermatt is the highest of our resorts, with skiing up to 3 883 metres. That is the safest snow when your week falls late.
Common questions
When is February half term 2027?
The English February half term is 15 to 19 February 2027 for most councils, with a few areas breaking up a week earlier. The Easter holidays run from 26 March to 9 April.
Why is half term not the same everywhere?
Term dates are set locally, not nationally. That is why half term spreads over more than one week, and why you should check your own school before booking.
Is half term more expensive?
Prices in the Alps follow demand from the biggest markets, above all Germany and Austria. Weeks outside their holidays are often both quieter and cheaper.
