Piste map of Megeve

The piste map of Megève shows a vast ski area in the Mont-Blanc region with 225 km of its own pistes and 55 lifts, divided into several sectors such as Rochebrune and Mont d'Arbois, where the village at 1113 metres is linked with the peaks rising to 2 350 metres. Beginner slopes lie close to the village and in the lower parts of Rochebrune, while more demanding terrain is found higher up towards Mont d'Arbois. What makes the map unique is that it also shows how Megève's piste network connects with the neighbouring resorts in the shared Evasion Mont-Blanc system, a total of 445 km, giving skiers far more choice than the local map alone would suggest.

How to ski in Megeve

Megève spreads out from the village at 1 113 metres, and beginners will find their slopes right next to the buildings as well as in the lower parts of the Rochebrune sector, which is easily reached straight from the centre. The gradient here is gentle and the distances short, making it convenient for families to move between their accommodation and the piste without lengthy transfers.

The more demanding skiing lies higher up, towards Mont d'Arbois, where the terrain steepens and the piste map shows a denser cluster of red and black sections up towards the summit at 2 350 metres. Anyone looking for a challenge should therefore head further up the system rather than staying close to the village.

With 225 km of its own pistes, split into 35 per cent blue, 30 per cent red and 15 per cent black, you can plan long days without skiing the same run twice. Rochebrune and Mont d'Arbois are connected by the lift system, and those who want to go further afield can link into Evasion Mont-Blanc, which covers a total of 445 km and means a single day's skiing can reach well beyond Megève's own 55 lifts.

The vertical drop between village and summit, 1 237 metres, means that the morning snow up at Mont d'Arbois often stays fresher for longer, while the lower parts around Rochebrune are sunnier early in the day but can be prone to queues around lunchtime when everyone heads back down towards the village.
