Snow reliability in La Clusaz
La Clusaz is not classed as a fully snow-sure destination, which is partly explained by the village's relatively low position at 1,040 metres. The lower part of the ski area can therefore be sensitive to mild spells, especially early and late in the season.
The highest point of the ski area, however, lies at 2,616 metres, giving access to considerably colder and more snow-sure terrain in sectors such as Balme. By concentrating your skiing on the higher parts of the network's 125 kilometres of pistes, you improve your chances of good snow conditions throughout your stay.
Best time to travel to La Clusaz
January to March offers the best conditions. The relatively low altitude (1,040 m) can mean uncertain snow in December and April. February has the most reliable snow depth. The Balme sector, being higher up, holds its snow the longest. Weekends can get busy due to the proximity to Annecy and Geneva.
Will there be lift queues in La Clusaz?
The lift system around La Clusaz carries 59,936 people an hour across 49 lifts. 11 of the 49 lifts are gondolas or high-speed chairlifts and 1 are drag lifts, which take longer to get through when it is busy. The fastest lifts carry up to 3,000 people an hour, for example Balme. That is roughly the same capacity per kilometre of piste as an average resort on this site, so queues only build when it is really busy. The queue you actually notice is almost always down in the valley between eight and half past nine. If you are on the lift before eight you avoid it.

By air. The nearest airport is Geneva (GVA). Pure flying time from London is around 1,5 hours, and from there it is 1 hour on to La Clusaz. You can cover the last stretch in one of two ways:
