Piste map of Saalbach
The piste map of Saalbach-Hinterglemm-Leogang-Fieberbrunn shows one of Europe's largest linked ski areas, with 270 km of pistes and 70 lifts. It spans four resorts and lays out the impressive lift network that ties the valleys together. The 70 km Challenge circuit, marked as a red line running through the whole system, is one of the map's most striking features. The map also illustrates the Skicircus concept, where you can ski all day without repeating a single piste. The north-facing slopes above Hinterglemm offer the most demanding runs.

How to ski in Saalbach
Skiing in Saalbach starts from four villages, all sitting at around 1 000 metres, with Saalbach itself at 1 003 metres. From here the lifts climb towards the system's high point at 2 100 metres, and it is on the gentler slopes closest to the village bases that beginners and families find their feet before venturing higher up the mountain.
The more demanding terrain lies on the north-facing slopes dropping down towards Hinterglemm, where steeper flanks will test even experienced skiers. This is the part of the ski circus where the terrain gets toughest, while the rest of the system keeps a more even, intermediate character.
The whole area, known as the Skicircus, links the four valleys with a total of 70 lifts and up to 400 kilometres of piste if you count the entire Saalbach World system, or 270 kilometres within the Skicircus itself. The 70 kilometre Challenge circuit, marked as a red line right across the map, makes it possible to ski around the entire area and take in almost every corner of it without repeating a single piste in a full day.
One practical tip: reckon on a vertical drop of 1 097 metres between village and summit, which makes the runs long and demands decent fitness if you want to ski all the way down without taking a lift. Plan your breaks accordingly after the long descents to the valley floor.
