How to ski in Wengen

Beginners and families will find the gentlest pistes near the village station at 1 274 metres, where blue runs dominate and easy lifts make it simple to get going straight from Wengen without mixing with faster traffic.

The more demanding terrain lies higher up towards the summits, where red and black pistes take over on the steeper flanks. The area around the Lauberhorn is known for its technical character and attracts skiers looking for a challenge on classic terrain.

Kleine Scheidegg and Männlichen act as hubs where the different parts of the ski area meet, and you can move freely between the sectors without having to return to the village. With 45 lifts and 110 km of pistes, plus the link to the Jungfrau region's 213 km, an active skier can cover a large part of the system in a day.

The vertical drop between village and summit, just over 1 100 metres, means snow conditions vary through the day. The best snow is often higher up in the morning, while the busiest spots are Kleine Scheidegg and Männlichen around lunchtime, so early or late outings pay off.
